About Flecha Azul Reposado Tequila
Flecha Azul is a brand of ultra-premium tequila that celebrates “centuries of history, tradition, and heritage.” Co-founded in 2020 by long-time friends Aron Marquez and Abraham Ancer, Flecha Azul is the culmination of their mutual passion for the Mexican spirit, as well as their Mexican heritage. The two met at a PGA Tour Pro-Am Tournament, quickly becoming friends and eventually business partners. The name Flecha Azul (blue arrow) is a reference to their humble beginnings and an unwavering path towards achieving the American Dream. Marquez is a Mexican immigrant and CEO of an oil company, while Ancer is the current no.1 Mexican golfer in the world. The pair were joined by acclaimed actor Mark Wahlberg in 2022 after the Hollywood megastar acquired a stake in the brand.
The tequila is crafted from blue Weber agaves that come from Tequila, Jalisco. Grown on sprawling land of 5,000 hectares, the plants ripen on the slopes of the Jalisco volcano, where the volcanic water and local climate make for optimal conditions. The agaves take 8 years until they reach full maturity. Then, they are harvested with coa knives, extracting the piñas (hearts) of the plants. These are then cooked in traditional brick ovens, ensuring that the sweetness of the mosto is just right. The mosto then ferments for 72 hours, before being distilled at least twice, depending on the expression.
Finally, the tequila is aged for different amounts of time ― first in aging tanks, then in ex-bourbon American oak casks. Flecha Azul Reposado Tequila spends 6 months in these barrels, resulting in a bright and balanced spirit with oaky notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and baking spices.
