About Hennessy Cognac Black
Introduced in 2009, Hennessy Black is a chic smooth and stylish cognac with an appropriate bottle to match. The spirit has a lighter golden hue, which comes from its subtle beauty rest in five year old oak barrels. The cognac is a blend of 45 different eaux-de-vie and is ‘aged in barrels used by Hennessy for at least five years…’ meaning that it is aged in oak barrels that were used for at least five years.
Hennessy Black is as smooth as it is intense. Throughout its palate it is full of character, with delicate floral aromas. It is a very mixable cognac with great, full bodied, elegant notes, and distinctively refined flavors. “Hennessy Black is a fresh cognac with scents of jasmine, daffodils, and orange flowers that are subtly mixed with hints of citrus, honey, and fresh grapes.”

About Cognac
Cognac is a type of brandy produced in the Cognac region of France.
Because the French take it very seriously, there are numerous rules cognac makers have to follow not to fall “short” into the brandy category.
The white wine from the specific grapes (Ugni blanc) has to be doubly distilled in a copper pot still before being aged for at least two years in oak casks from which the wood can only come from two specific forests in France (Limousin or Tronçais).
Depending on the age, there are three types of cognac, the youngest V.S. (Very Special), V.S.O.P. (Very Superior Old Pale), and the X.O. (Extra Old)
